We study how the AIRE protein (short for autoimmune regulator) shapes epithelial stress responses in skin and other barrier tissues. By uncovering its dual roles in cancer survival and autoimmune disease, our lab aims to turn fundamental discoveries into strategies that restore balance and improve patient outcomes.
